At Glenbrae School we have just got a worm farm built and set up. The worm farm will help produce rich fertile soil for our class gardens.

This week Room 8 have been writing Cinquain Poems. A Cinquain poem consists of:
Line 1: one word (subject or noun)

Line 2: two words (adjectives) that describe line 1

Line 3: three words (action verbs) that relate to line 1

Line 4: four words (feelings or a complete sentence) that relates to line 1

Line 5: one word (synonym of line 1 or a word that sums it up).

The Cinquain Poem was based on our Celebrity Guest Dog Tosca who starred in the New Zealand double episode of Down Size my Pet and Down Size me (owner). It was a very exciting day for the school as we knew Mrs McGaw from her teaching practicum in Room 7, and it's not everyday that we see people we know on TV. Mrs. McGaw and Tosca did very well at loosing the kilos, changing their diets and doing the exercises. We wish them well in keeping fit and healthy.

This term we have been learning about Haiku poems. A Haiku poem has a sequence of 5-7-5 syllables per line. Lyricyst a year 4 (nine year) girl has written hers in the theme of Fire works.

This podcast was created by a Year 4 (nine year old) girl in my class. She has been learning about Haiku poems and she had to create her own Haiku Poem around the theme of fireworks. A Haiku poems has: 5 syllables on the first line, 7 syllables on the second line and 5 syllables on the third line, in total 17 syllables.
